In case of bed ridden patients, the caretakers have to put in a lot of effort to move the patients to various positions, which are essential for their quick recovery. Patients will also have to be moved to various positions in order to prevent further complications in their existing medical conditions. Hence a transforming bed as shown in fig-1 having various movements to bring the patients into comfortable positions becomes a necessity. In the embodiment of our invention the hospital bed is converted into a standing wheel chair. This reduction in floor space utilization facilitates the effective use of this transforming bed. Since the system is electrically mechanized, the handling strain is reduced. This application relates generally to patient care and hospital beds, and more particularly to a method of patient care which reduces the number of surface-to-surface transfers a patient must undergo during a patient™s stay in a hospital.
