The invention relates to new 5-thioxylose compounds, preferably 5-thioxylopyranosetype derivatives, and the method of preparation thereof and their use as activeingredient for drugs, in particular intended for treatment or prevention ofthromboses. The compounds have formula (I) in which the pentapyranosyl grouprepresents a free or substituted 5-thio-β-D-xylopyranosyl group； R'[sic?], R' and R'' each independently represent a hydrogenatom, a C-C acyl group or two of them, adjacent, form a 1-methylethylidenebridge； Xand X each represent a carbon or nitrogen atom；Yand Y each represent independently of each other a carbon,nitrogen, sulfur or oxygen atom, with the condition that if Y representsan oxygen or sulfur atom, Y represents a carbon or nitrogen atom； R,R, R, R and R represent, independentlyof each other, a hydrogen atom, a -COOR group where R representsa hydrogen atom or a C-C alkyl group optionally substitutedby a phenyl ring, a halogen atom or a -COOR group, an C-Calkoxy group, a C-C acyl group, a benzoyl group ora phenyl ring； and addition salts of the compounds having the formula (I) and theactive metabolites of the compounds having the formula (I).
