An IMD having oscillatory sensors for placement in an internal thoracic vein (ITV) of a patient may be employed to detect activity of a body part, determining a status of the body part or patient more generally, and then monitor the status of the body part. Therapy decisions may rely on the status of the body part, and information related to such status may be communicated to an external device.
