Disclosed are systems, methods, and implantable devices configured to provide cardiac resynchronization therapy and / or bradycardia pacing therapy. A first device, located within the patient's heart, is configured to receive communications from the second device and to deliver pacing therapy in response to or in response to the received communications. A second device, located elsewhere, is configured to determine that an atrial event has occurred and to communicate with the first device to trigger a pacing therapy. The second device may be configured to sense atrial events by use of vector selection and atrial event windowing, among other enhancements.
