The device comprises a detector (10) producing a signal dependent on variations in the pupillary diameter of an eye of a subject, a display (20) for presenting the subject with a light pattern subdivided into several regions, and an analyzer (40) receiving the signal from the detector (10) and analyzing its frequency content. The display is controlled so that each region has a light intensity modulated at a respective modulation frequency, the modulation frequencies being different from one region to another.Le dispositif comprend un détecteur (10) produisant un signal dépendant de variations du diamètre pupillaire d'un œil d'un sujet, un afficheur (20) pour présenter au sujet un motif lumineux subdivisé en plusieurs régions, et un analyseur (40) recevant le signal du détecteur (10) et analysant son contenu fréquentiel. L'afficheur est commandé pour que chaque région ait une intensité lumineuse modulée à une fréquence de modulation respective, les fréquences de modulation étant différentes d'une région à l'autre.
