PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope apparatus capable of carrying out observations by increasing the width of depth of field or in the state of high resolution when carrying out close observations.SOLUTION: When a movable range of a focus lens 26 of an object optical system 17 which constitutes an imaging unit 19 mounted at a distal end part 11 of the endoscope 2 is restricted so as to move either in a first movable range to automatically focus in a distant point side region and in a second movable range to automatically focus in a near point side region, and when switch is performed so as to automatically focus in the near point side region, a part of an imaging region is cut out, an angle of view lens 27 is moved to suppress a change in angle of view before and after switching, and the width of the depth of field is increased.
