A sectional meter shut-off apparatus for use in preventing agricultural particulatematerial from reaching a metering device in an air seeding system for the purposeof preventing double seeding or double fertilizing. The sectional meter shut-offapparatus comprises a plurality of gates capable of opening or closing accessof the particulate matter to a metering roller. The plurality of gates can be controlledthrough electric actuators, hydraulic cylinders or a cam shaft. These gatescan individually be controlled through an electric switch connected to the cabof the vehicle and operated by the driver. Alternatively, the gates can be automaticallycontrolled by a GPS/GNSS system capable of determining which areas of the fieldhave been previously seeded or fertilized. Additionally, an agricultural implementis further provided, comprising a dual material dispensing apparatus is provided,which incorporates a meter shut-off device. The agricultural implement comprisesa plurality of valves capable of actuating hydraulic rams to raise ground-engagingsoil openers when passing over soil that has been previously seeded/fertilizedand at the same time actuating means within the meter shut-off apparatus to preventsupply of material to those ground-engaging openers which have been raised,to prevent not only destruction of the previously-seeded material but also preventoverfertilizing and/or overseeding, as the case may be.
