The invention relates to polymeric systems for stabilizing, storing anddelivering hypohalide salts. One systemcon-sists of material coated with two layers: one prepared from polyethyleneglycol epoxide and melamine solution and secondpre-pared from inorganic hypohalide salt solution. The material can be fabric,cotton, bamboo, cellulosic materials, blend of cellulosicand synthetic fibres. Antimicrobial materials comprising this system are alsodescribed. Another system consists of materialcon-taining pre-formed spaces coated with water-polyethylene glycol solutionof hypohalide salt and encapsulated by film formingpolymer. Hypohalide salts within both systems are in some cases storage stablefor at least three months.
