The present invention is directed generally to medical devices, systems, and methods, particularly for treatment of an eye. In particular, embodiments of the present invention are directed toward a handheld device with a cylindrical extension with a contacting surface for the delivery of electromagnetic energy, and more particularly to a handheld device with a cylindrical extension with a contacting surface that is used for lowering the intraocular pressure in human eyes afflicted with glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Even more specifically, the present invention is directed toward electromagnetic therapy for lowering intraocular pressure in glaucomatous eyes via transconjunctival/transcleral/translimbal ab-externo treatment with electromagnetic energy directed to the trabecular meshwork and/or the pigmented and/or non-pigmented cells of the pars plana and pars plicata and other ocular tissues.La présente invention concerne dune façon générale des dispositifs, des systèmes et des procédés sappliquant au domaine de la médecine, notamment au traitement dun oeil. Des modes de réalisation de la présente invention concernent, en particulier, un dispositif portatif comportant une extension cylindrique présentant une surface de contact permettant la distribution dénergie électromagnétique, et plus particulièrement, un dispositif portatif comportant une extension cylindrique présentant une surface de contact qui est utilisée pour faire baisser la pression intraoculaire dans les yeux de lêtre humain souffrant de glaucome ou dhypertension oculaire.
