The invention relates to a system for introducing a compressed, self-expandable stent (2) into a blood vessel (12) through a port (14) arranged in the blood vessel (12) and for releasing the stent (2) in the blood vessel (12), comprising a catheter (4) having an inner tube (6), a middle tube (8) and an outer tube (10), wherein the stent (2) is arranged in a distal end section of the catheter (4) between the inner tube (6) and the outer tube (10) and the middle tube (8) ends distally at the proximal end of the stent (2), and comprising an actuation unit (16) provided in the proximal region of the catheter (4) for releasing the stent (2) and having a drive unit (18), wherein a connection means (30) is provided between the drive unit (18) and the port (14), wherein the drive unit (18) cooperates with the middle tube (8) and the connection means (30) in such a way that, when same is actuated, the middle tube (8) is moved in the distal direction (37) and the actuation unit (16) is moved in the proximal direction (36) together with the outer tube (10) secured thereon, and wherein the inner tube (6) cooperates with the middle tube (8) and/or the connection means (30) in such a way that same is shifted at least partially relative to the actuation unit (16).
