A platform for supporting a human body, comprising one or more blocks for supporting the body, one or each supporting block comprising: a plurality of columns, each of which includes a packet of fluid-filled, essentially spherical elastic balls, each ball of each corresponding column physically and by fluid connection only with the adjacent ball (s) within the column, so that the column can be compressed essentially independently of the neighboring column; and a base providing a main fluid reservoir; said columns being regularly distributed on said basis; and each of said columns is connected to said base so that the lowest ball of the corresponding column is directly connected by fluid to said main fluid reservoir; and at the same time, the uppermost balls of the respective columns together form a supporting surface for the body. 2. The platform for supporting the body according to claim 1, characterized in that at least one ball in the column has an elasticity different from the elasticity of at least one of the other balls in the column.
