PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cosmetic which can give a nonconventional unique feeling of use which has smooth and rich feeling, as well as quick compatibility when applying to the skin and further a dry feeling without a sticky feeling after being applied, while having an excellent whitening effect by combining ascorbic acid glucoside and 4-methoxy salicylic acid.SOLUTION: The liquid cosmetic contains (A) 1.0-5.0 mass% of ascorbic acid glucoside and/or 4-methoxy salicylic acid or the salt thereof, (B) 0.001-0.1 mass% of polyacrylic acid or metal salt thereof, and (C) 0.01-1.0 mass% of xanthan gum, being transparent or translucent which has an L value of 50 or more.
