PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for sealing and/or cutting tissue.SOLUTION: An electrosurgical instrument 10 for performing sealing and/or dividing tissue includes: a housing 20 having a shaft 12 attached thereto which defines a longitudinal axis； and a first jaw member which is movable relative to a second jaw member. The first jaw member is attached to the shaft and can relatively move from a first open position wherein the jaw members 100 are disposed in spaced relation relative to one another to a second closed position wherein the jaw members cooperate to grasp tissue therebetween.
