The apparatus also includes alight funnel to direct the plurality of light beamsto the target area, an aperture to direct the pluralityof light beams emitting from the target area toa lens, the lens configured to collect the lightbeams emitting from the target area. Further,the apparatus includes a detector including aplurality of light-sensing devices each configuredto detect a light beam and configured to generatean output signal indicative of an intensity of lightdetected and a processor for determining the bloodcharacteristic as a function of each generatedoutput signal.
