To provide an oxygen concentrator which can suppress compressor lord when starting an oxygen concentrator.
SOLUTION: The pressure swing adsorption type oxygen concentrator 1 comprises: a plurality of adsorption columns 105a and 105b filled with an adsorption agent which selectively adsorbs nitrogen rather than oxygen a compressor 103 for supplying pressurized air to the adsorption columns and a means for switching flow paths to switch a flow path between the compressor and each adsorption column successively and to repeat at specific timing an adsorption process, where pressurized air is supplied to each adsorption column and concentrated oxygen is taken out, and a desorption process and where the adsorption column is depressurized and the adsorption agent is regenerated. In particular, the oxygen concentrator 1 further has a pressure equalizing path with a pressure equalizing valve 102 which equally pressurizes between the adsorption columns and is disposed at the downstream side of the adsorption columns and still further has a driving control means 401 which drives the pressure equalizing valve when the compressor is started.
