An ultrasound diagnosis apparatus according to the present invention includes a frequency analysis unit, a change rate calculation unit, and an attenuation rate estimation unit. The frequency analysis unit calculates a frequency spectrum of an ultrasound signal for each of reception depths by analyzing a frequency of the ultrasound signal. The change rate calculation unit calculates a second-order change rate of a frequency spectrum calculated by the frequency analysis unit or of a function defined by using the frequency spectrum by calculating a distance change rate and a frequency change rate on the frequency spectrum or on the function, in a predetermined order. The attenuation rate estimation unit estimates an attenuation rate per unit distance and per unit frequency, of the ultrasound signal in a predetermine region within a scanning region of the ultrasound transducer using the second-order change rate calculated by the change rate calculation unit.
