PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catheter securement device that reduces the likelihood of accidental dislodgement of the catheter securement device.SOLUTION: A catheter securement device (10) is adapted to be adhesively mounted to the skin of a patient to secure a catheter (30) in place. The device comprises: a flexible, thin, sheet-like base member (11) with a distal edge (13) and a midportion (28), and a releasable, flexible, thin, sheet-like retention member (21) comprising a fixed end (24), a releasable end (25), and a distal edge (23).
