The claimed invention relates to antimicrobial agents that are active against gram-negative bacteria, in particular to fused proteins, consisting of an enzyme with the function of the destruction of the cell wall of gram-negative bacteria and an extended peptide chain, fused with an enzyme at the N- or C-termini. In addition, the claimed invention relates to nucleic acid molecules encoding said fusion protein, vectors containing said nucleic acid molecules, and host cells containing either said nucleic acid molecules or said vectors. Additionally, the claimed invention relates to the use of said fusion protein as a drug, in particular for the treatment or prophylaxis of infections caused by gram-negative bacteria, a diagnostic tool or a component of cosmetic preparations. The claimed invention also relates to the processing or prophylaxis of infection with gram-negative bacteria of food products, equipment at food industry enterprises, surfaces in contact with food products, medical equipment, surfaces in hospitals and surgical units.
