An endoluminal filter including a first support member having a first end anda second end and a second support member attached to the first end of the first supportmember or the second end of the first support member and forming a crossover withthe first support member. The endoluminal filter also includes a material capturestructure extending between the first and second support members, the crossoverand the first end or the second end of the first support member and at least one tissueanchor on the first support member or the second support member. A method of positioninga filter within a lumen including advancing a sheath containing a filter throughthe lumen. Next, deploying a portion of the filter from the sheath into the lumento engage the lumen wall while maintaining substantially all of a material capturestructure of the filter within the sheath. Next, deploying the material capturestructure of the filter from the sheath to a position across the lumen.
