PURPOSE: A composition for preventing or treating hypoxia-ischemia containing an inhibitor of expression or activation of Bag3 gene or protein is provided to protect nerve cells in brain damaged by hypoxia-ischemia. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating hypoxia-ischemia contains an inhibitor of expression or activation of Bag3 gene or protein as an active ingredient. The inhibitor is selected among an antisense oligonucleotide, siRNA, shRNA, and miRNA which complementarily bind to mRNA of Bag3 gene. The composition protects nerve cells from a damage caused by hypoxia-ischemia. A composition for diagnosing hypoxia-ischemia contains an agent which measures Bag3 mRNA or protein level.본 발명은 저산소성 허혈 예방 또는 치료용 조성물에 관한 것으로, 보다 구체적으로는 Bag3 유전자 또는 상기 유전자로부터 발현된 단백질의 발현 또는 활성 억제제를 유효성분으로 포함하는 저산소성 허혈 예방 또는 치료용 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따르면 저산소성 허혈 이후 성상세포에서 발현이 증가하는 Bag3 유전자를 저산소성 허혈을 진단할 수 있는 마커로 사용할 수 있고, Bag3 유전자 또는 단백질의 발현 또는 활성 억제제는 저산소성 허혈로 인해 손상된 뇌에서 우수한 신경세포 보호 효과를 나타내므로 저산소성 허혈의 예방 또는 치료제로 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
