An oral device having a multi-purpose handle which can be connected to a varietyof head assemblies to provide distinct oral care benefits. The head assemblycan be light emitting and bristle-less, and can comprise a spacing element. Thespacing element can provide the user with a means to determine the proper distancebetween the oral surface and the light emitting element. The spacing elementmay also stimulate a tactile response to indicate to the user the location of thelight emitting element within the oral cavity.
