The present invention relates to anex vivouse of a lytic peptide or lytic peptidomimetic for the prevention of biofilm formation on a solid support, wherein said peptide or peptidomimetic a) carries a net charge of at least plus 2； b) is 2 to 6 amino acids in length or is an equivalently sized peptidomimetic； c) is amphipathic in nature, having one or more lipophilic groups, one of said lipophilic groups comprising at least 7 non-hydrogen atoms； and d) is covalently attached to said solid support.
