It is an object of the present invention to provide a system that can be used to improve cancer related clinical workflow compared to current cancer related clinical workflow. This object is achieved by an image guidance system configured to support combined biopsy and treatment procedures using image guidance to move the needle from a predetermined position to a predetermined end position of the subject of interest. The image guidance system comprises a medical imaging system configured for collection of a medical image of a region of interest of a subject of interest and the medical image is used to determine the current position of the predetermined end position. The image guidance system further comprises a needle guidance system configured to define a needle position within the space and thereby define a predefined position and to direct the biopsy and treatment needle into the region of interest. The image guidance system has a user interface system configured to support both biopsy and treatment procedures so that patient settings need to be performed only once.
