Disclosed is an ultrasound probe (2) which is provided with first and second piezoelectric members and comprises a first piezoelectric portion (22) having a plurality of first piezoelectric elements and a second piezoelectric portion (26) having a plurality of second piezoelectric elements, the piezoelectric elements being capable of converting electrical signals into ultrasound signals and vice versa by the use of piezoelectric phenomena. The first piezoelectric portion (22) is used for transmitting a first ultrasound signal to a subject, and the second piezoelectric portion (26) is used for receiving a second ultrasound signal based on the first ultrasound signal coming from the interior of the subject. A first element pitch (P1) of the plurality of first piezoelectric elements in the first piezoelectric portion (22) differs from a second element pitch (P2) of the plurality of second piezoelectric elements in the second piezoelectric portion (26).
