The present invention relates to a medicament delivery device comprising a medicament container (52) having an attached medicament delivery member (54); a housing adapted to receive the medicament container (52), the medicament container (52) being movable between a retracted position in which the medicament delivery member (54) is contained within the housing and an extended position in which the medicament delivery member (54) extends from the housing; a drive unit (78) that acts upon the medicament container (52) to advance it from its retracted positon to its extended position and expels its contents through the medicament delivery member (54); and a medicament container holder (50) for carrying the medicament container (52) as it is advanced, the medicament container holder (50) having a proximal end through which the medicament delivery member (54) extends and a distal end opposite the proximal end; and a holding member (80) releasably connected to the drive unit and attached to the medicament container holder.
