PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilizing apparatus that can uniformly irradiate a container to be sterilized with ultraviolet rays emitted from a light source without the loss of the ultraviolet rays.SOLUTION: The apparatus for sterilizing a container of the present invention includes: one or plural light sources 4 that emits ultraviolet rays when electric power is supplied to the light sources 4 a light source support 6 that supports the light sources 4 and can relatively move back and forth, thereby advancing and retreating, in a preform 30 and a cooling mechanism 5 that cools the interior of the light source support 6.
