A dialysis apparatus for processing blood containing a. a control unit, said control unit comprising i. a door having an inner surface ii. a housing with a panel, said housing and a panel forming a recessed area configured to receive said internal surface of said door, iii. a collector receiver firmly attached to said panel, wherein said collector receiver is configured to receive a collector through which said blood flows from the patient through the dialyzer, and iv. a processing unit for controlling the flow of said blood through the collector and the dialyzer, b. a base unit, said base unit being configured to physically connect to and disconnect from said control unit, and, being attached, be able to exchange data with said control unit, said base unit comprising i. a flat surface for receiving a fluid container, said fluid container being in fluid communication with said manifold, ii. first scales physically associated with said flat surface; and iii. a heater in thermal communication with said liquid container. 2. The dialysis apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said panel is configured to provide access to a plurality of pumps. The dialysis apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said collector is a molded plastic base that forms a first flow channel that is hydraulically isolated from the second flow channel.
