A structure (40) that can be partially assembled at one location, transportedto a site in modules (101-110), and then fully assembled into a structuresuitable for housing a therapeutic radiation source (600) is disclosed. Themodules include reinforced walls (510) that are filled with radiationshielding fill material to form a barrier (70) around a central treatment area(50). Additional modules (106-110) are placed over the first set of modules(101-105) and form a barrier above the treatment room (50). A door (130) witha selectively retractable threshold provides access to the treatment room. Themodule including the radiation equipment is included in removable portions sothat the radiation equipment can be removed and replaced. The modules alsoform a patient waiting room and control area (60) separated from the treatmentby the barrier (70).
