A urinary catheter assembly comprises a urinary catheter (1) having on at least a part of its surface a hydrophilic surface layer (6) intended to produce a low-friction surface character of the catheter by treatment with a liquid swelling medium prior to use of the catheter and a catheter package (7) having a cavity (11) for accommodation of the catheter (1). The package (7) includes a compartment (12) having walls of a gas impermeable material and accommodating said liquid swelling medium or a catheter pretreated therewith for long time preservation of said low-friction surface character and provision of a ready-to-use catheter assembly.Cette invention se rapporte à un ensemble cathéter urinaire, qui comprend un cathéter urinaire (1) comportant sur au moins une partie de sa surface une couche de surface hydrophile (6) destinée à conférer au cathéter un effet de surface basse friction par traitement avec un milieu gonflant liquide avant lutilisation du cathéter et un emballage à cathéter (7) présentant une cavité (11) destinée à recevoir le cathéter (1). Cet emballage (7) contient un compartiment (12) ayant des parois en un matériau imperméables aux gaz est renfermant le milieu gonflant liquide ou un cathéter préalablement traité avec ce milieu afin dobtenir une longue conservation de leffet de surface basse friction et la formation densemble cathéter prêt à lemploi.
