PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gum drug for chewing having primarily an anti-inflammatory action to the throat, in which the drug efficacy component dwells in the mouth for a long time by chewing so that the component is in prolonged contact with affected areas in the throat, and the drug has excellent stabilized drug efficacy in preserving, storing, etc., without deterioration or the like of the drug efficacy component even when preserved and left to stand for long time at ordinary houses and to provide a method for producing the gum drug by which the drug invariably stable in quality can be produced, without causing deterioration of the drug efficacy component in the course of production, nor causing alteration of components due to mutual reaction between used components.

SOLUTION: This gum drug for chewing includes a gum base and the drug efficacy component, where the gum base has a chewable elastic rubbery form, and the drug efficacy component is uniformly included in the gum base, the drug efficacy component contains an antiphlogistic having an anti-inflammatory action primarily on the inflammation of throat, and the antiphlogistic exerts the anti-inflammatory action by direct contact with the affected area in the mouth together with saliva by virtue of chewing. Specifically, the drug efficacy component can be uniformly dispersed in the gum base by a method where a mixed powder of the drug efficacy component and a vehicle is prepared, and then the mixed powder is kneaded with the gum base.
