PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drag mechanism capable of preventing the rotation of a friction disk even by using a holding space having an easily sealable form.SOLUTION: The drag mechanism 6 includes a friction disk 21, a cover member 26, a brake disk 22, and a drag adjusting mechanism. The friction disk is placed in a holding space of a first flange 9b of a spool 4 and has an engaging recess 21a formed on an external circumferential surface. The cover member 26 has a cylindrical portion 26a fitting to the internal circumferential surface of the holding space, an engaging protrusion 26e on an end surface of the cylindrical portion to engage with the engaging recess, and a protrusion mating closely with an end face of the first flange. The cover member 26 is fixed to the first flange and covers the holding space from outside. The brake disk is arranged in the holding space facing the friction disk and constructed not to rotate in a direction to reel out the line.
