A power and control system for a drug delivery device allows activation of the drug delivery device, its control, and communication with the drug delivery device. The power and control system allows for a delay between activation of the device, and optionally the activation of the needle insertion, and the start of drug delivery. The delay can be made for a predetermined time. The power and control system may also communicate with one or more external sensors and devices. Inputs from sensors and devices can be adjusted automatically, or on demand, to adjust the delivery parameters of the device.
