The present invention relates to a composition containing a mixed extract of ephedra sinica, rheum palmatum L. and arnebia euchroma as an active ingredient for preventing or treating fatty liver diseases. The mixed extract of Ephedra sinica, Rheum palmatum L. and Arnebia euchroma according to the present invention has excellent effects of not causing hepatotoxicity in a fatty liver animal model induced by a high-fat diet, inhibiting weight gain, remarkably decreasing fat accumulation in liver tissues and reducing a concentration of total blood cholesterol and triglyceride, and thus can be effectively used for preventing or treating fatty liver diseases, and improving a liver function.본 발명은 마황, 대황 및 자초의 혼합 추출물을 유효성분으로 포함하는 지방간 질환의 예방 또는 치료용 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 마황, 대황 및 자초의 혼합 추출물은 고지방 식이로 유도한 지방간 동물모델에서 간 독성을 일으키지 않으며, 체중 증가를 억제하고, 간 조직 내의 지방 축적을 현저하게 감소시키며, 혈중 총 콜레스테롤 및 중성지방의 농도를 감소시키는 우수한 효과를 가지고 있어, 지방간 질환의 예방 또는 치료, 및 간기능 개선에 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
