Accessory material and methods of using the accessory material to reinforce the staple line is provided herein. In general, the accessory material may be used to maintain a seal in the fabric and to prevent the stapled fabric from breaking. This accessory material may be attached to a surgical stapler's claw, and may be implanted into the tissue together with the staples. In some embodiments, the accessory material may be sized and molded such that a portion of the material extends laterally out of the staple line and distributes the tension in the fabric outside the staple line.
