In part, the present disclosure relates to a method of guide wire detection in intravascular data sets, such as scan lines, frame images, and combinations thereof. A method of generating one or more indicia of a guidewire in a representation of a blood vessel is also a feature of the present disclosure. In one embodiment a carpet view is generated and a region of relatively higher contrast is detected as a candidate guide wire region. In one embodiment, the present disclosure relates to selective removal of a guidewire segment from a set of intravascular data and display of a representation of a blood vessel via a user interface.
