To provide a culture method of Cordyceps militaris, an extraction method of bioactive substance from a cultured product thereof and a type of activity of the substance, and a composition containing the cultured product or an extract from the cultured product, and also a composition showing erythropoietin inductive action which is useful in preventing or treating anemia which is particularly renal anemia.SOLUTION: Cordyceps militaris mycelium is cultured in solid culture medium or liquid culture medium to obtain a cultured product, and a composition showing erythropoietin inductive action is produced by using the cultured product itself or an extract from the cultured product.
