Disclosed is an oscillating multi-tool (100) for cutting, scraping, sanding or grinding of material. The disclosure notes that present oscillating multi-tools produce a side to side oscillating force, vibration and jerking actions which cause the user grasping the multi-tool to fatigue. The oscillating multi-tool (100) comprises a body (110), drive system and gear arrangement. The drive system and gear arrangement cause first (500) and second (510) tool attachments to partially or fully oscillate in opposite directions which direction of oscillation is normal to a longitudinal length of the first (500) and second (510) tool attachments. The gear arrangement is connected or interconnected to first and second tool connectors. The first tool attachment (500) is connected to the first tool connector and the second tool attachment (510) is connected to the second tool connector. The gear arrangement causes the first and second tool connectors to move when the drive system is activated to cause the first (500) and second (510) tool attachments to partially of fully oscillate in opposite directions relative to one another.
