One aspect of the present disclosure relates to a system that can adjust the intensity of a neural stimulation signal over time. The pulse generator may be configured to generate a stimulation signal for stimulating the nerve tissue of the individual and to adjust the parameter on the intensity of the pulse in the pattern of the stimulation signal over time. An electrode may be connected to the pulse generator and this electrode may be configured to apply a stimulation signal to the nerve tissue.
