PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process plant control system used in a process plant. SOLUTION: A control system includes a process module 46, which represents a logical unit integrated with an expert module detecting abnormal situations associated with the logical unit. The process module includes a plurality of process objects, each process object representing a corresponding physical entity in the process plant. The process objects include simulation capabilities to simulate the corresponding physical entities. The expert module is adapted to detect an abnormal situation associated with the logical unit, and is communicatively coupled to the process module to receive data from the process module in operation. Because the expert module is integrated with the process module, a user can more easily configure the expert module to detect abnormal situations associated with the logical unit.
