The present invention relates to molecular markers genetically linked to, and capable of identifying, a genetic locus in the cucumber plant (Cucumis sativus L.) genome conferring a general resistance against tobamoviruses, and especially against two commercially important pathogenic tobamoviruses, i.e., cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV) and cucumber fruit mottle mosaic virus (CFMMV). The present invention further relates to methods for providing a cucumber plant (Cucumis sativus L.,) plants, plant parts and fruits with resistance against tobamoviruses and especially against two commercially important pathogenic tobamoviruses, i.e., cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV) and cucumber fruit mottle mosaic virus (CFMMV).La presente invención se relaciona con marcadores moleculares genéticamente vinculados a, y capaces de identificar, un locus genético en el genoma de la planta del pepino (Cucumis sativus L.) confiriendo una resistencia general contra los tobamovirus, y especialmente contra dos tobamovirus patogénicos comercialmente importantes, ej., virus del mosaico verde moteado del pepino (CGMMV) y el virus del mosaico moteado del fruto del pepino (CFMMV).
