PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair treatment agent which can be prepared in a short time and imparts excellent firmness and elasticity to hair fibers, particularly to the hair having no firmness and elasticity (damaged hair, fine hair and the like) to improve the deterioration of a touch due to hair damage, and to provide a hair modifying method.SOLUTION: The hair treatment agent (A) includes an alkoxysilane having two or more carboxyl groups or its acid anhydride. A hair modifier is composed of the hair treatment agent (A) and a hair treatment agent (B) for promoting hydrolysis or polymerization reaction.
