Devices, systems, and methods for cannulating a blood vessel are now described. In general, the method can include advancing the stent into the first blood vessel and deploying the stent within the first blood vessel to keep one or more valves open. This allows retrograde blood flow through the blood vessels in the peripheral vessels and may assist in cannulation of the blood vessels. In one embodiment, the method further includes non-invasively detecting the stent location.
