PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extendable type disposable diaper, where its back side can flatly extend without wrinkles and solid gathers and leg gathers readily applicable to a baby are provided.
SOLUTION: An extendable type disposable diaper is provided with a liquid-penetrable surface sheet 2, a liquid-impenetrable or repellent back sheet 3 and a liquid-retaining absorptive body 4 inserted between these two sheets. The diaper also has a pair of leak preventive cuffs 6, 6 with an elastic member 61 for forming solid gathers, and a pair of leg flaps 7, 7 with an elastic member 71 for forming leg gathers, both arranged in its longitudinal direction. The diaper can be divided into a flank part A, a crotch part B and a back part C. The absorptive body 4 consists of a high weighing region 4A and a low weighing region 4B. The low weighing region 4B applies to the back part C, while the high weighing part 4A applies to the crotch part B. There are substantially neither solid gathers nor leg gathers at the back part C where the low weighing region 4B is provided.
