The present invention relates to a mobile terminal performing fingerprint recognition. The mobile terminal performing a fingerprint recognition comprises: a terminal body a user input comprising a button receiving a user input and a first sensor detecting a fingerprint of a user touching the button a second sensor which is installed in the body and detects whether the body is in contact with a human body and a control part which activates the first sensor to detect the fingerprint of the user touching the button, when the second sensor detects contact of the human body, and unlocks a screen when the fingerprint sensed in the first sensor correspond to a preset fingerprint. Therefore, the screen can be activated and unlocked by fingerprint recognition.본 발명은 지문 인식을 수행하는 이동 단말기에 관한 것으로, 단말기 본체, 사용자의 입력을 수신하는 버튼과, 상기 버튼에 접촉하는 사용자의 지문을 감지하는 제1센서를 구비하는 사용자 입력부, 상기 본체에 장착되며, 상기 본체가 인체와 접촉되어 있는 상태인지 여부를 감지하는 제2센서 및 상기 제2센서가 상기 인체의 접촉을 감지하면 상기 버튼에 접촉하는 사용자의 지문을 감지하도록 상기 제1센서를 활성화하고, 상기 제1센서에서 센싱한 지문이 기설정된 지문에 해당하면 화면의 잠금 상태를 해제하는 제어부를 포함하고, 화면 활성화와 지문 인식에 의한 잠금 해제의 수행이 가능하다.
