The instrument (14) includes a treatment lumen (16) extending substantially the length of the instrument (14) for receipt of treatment material. A super elastic wire (50) is positioned in at least a distal end (18) of the instrument (14). The super elastic wire (50) forms a loop in an unstressed state to allow the instrument (14) to encircle an anastomosis formed 10 between a pair of tubular tissue sections. The super elastic wire (50) is in a stressed state when the instrument (14) is retracted within the outer sheath (12) and in the unstressed state when the instrument (14) is extended from the outer sheath (12) to enclose the anastomosis. A proximal end (52) of the super elastic wire (50) is oriented substantially perpendicular to a plane formed by the loop to allow the instrument (14) to lie parallel to is the tubular tissue sections during the spraying of the anastomosis. A source of air pressure may be provided through the instrument (14) to facilitate spraying the treatment material onto the anastomosis.116 /70 Fig. 16 F4440a Fig. 2
