The present disclosure also relates to methods for manufacturing these articles of manufacture, to vehicles for applying the formulation to these articles of manufacture, and to perception indicators indicating the presence and the amount of formulation comprising an active agent applied to an article of manufacture. Particularly the disclosure is directed to An article for applying an active ingredient to an integument of a subject, comprising: a) a substrate in a substantially dry condition and b) the substrate carrying microparticles, wherein the microparticles include the active ingredient dispersed within a carrier material, the microparticles being responsive to conditions established in proximity to the integument to progressively release the active ingredient for transfer to the integument, to the microparticles and to medical uses of the described articles.
