PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an objective for an endoscope which has long back focus in comparison with a focal length and whose chromatic aberration of magnification is satisfactorily corrected.
SOLUTION: The objective for the endoscope is constituted by arranging a front group G1 having negative refractive power as a whole, a brightness diaphragm S and a rear group G2 having positive refractive power as a whole in order from an object side. The front group G1 is constituted of a first negative lens L1 turning its plane surface or convex surface to the object side, and the rear group G2 is constituted by arranging a second lens L2 that is a positive single lens turning a surface having a larger absolute value of the radius of curvature to the object side, a first cemented lens L34 comprising a third lens L3 that is a biconvex lens and a fourth negative lens L4 that is a meniscus, and a second cemented lens L56 comprising a fifth lens L5 that is a biconvex lens and a sixth negative lens L6 that is a meniscus in order from the object side.
