A peelable protective sheath and related assemblies / systems and methods are disclosed. A protective sheath may be used on the balloon catheter to protect the balloon and any coating thereon. The protective sheath may be peelable to facilitate removal of the protective sheath. The peelable sheath can be inserted into the hemostatic valve and injector while still being positioned over the balloon of the balloon catheter to protect the balloon and any coating thereon from damage during insertion. The peelable protective sheath can be peeled off from the proximal end to initiate removal.
