The gasket (10) is formed from a rigid plastic exhibiting drug solution resistance to a drug solution (30) with which the syringe barrel (1) is filled. A recessed groove (18) is formed along the entire periphery of a sliding contact surface (11) of a main body section (26) which slides along the inner peripheral surface (2) of the syringe barrel (1). A sliding contact ring (19) which is fitted into the recessed groove (18) and which slides along the inner peripheral surface (2) of the syringe barrel is obtained by adding to a silicone rubber base material (19c) a silicone oil and a spherical ultra high molecular weight fine powder.
