The invention provides a blood platelet-derived functional natural brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) concentrate wherein the brain-derived neurotrophic factor has a concentration of 50-200 ng/ml and thereby being used widely in therapeutic application or physiological regulation. The invention also provides a method for preparing a blood platelet-derived functional natural brain-derived neurotrophic factor concentrate from blood platelets in which the initial platelet concentrate is treated with a solvent/detergent mixture, extracted with oil and treated with cation-exchange column chromatography to obtain an enriched brain-derived neurotrophic factor concentrate.
